In English 2 Honors, Mrs. Roland’s student teacher, Ms. Holloway had students engage in an “Eating Poetry” activity. Students were given cut out strips of the poem, “Eating Poetry”, and each group had to reconstruct the poem in a way that made sense and had an overall meaning. For additional motivation, the group with a poem closest to the original received a prize!

Students in Mrs. Crook's ELA Class worked very hard to complete their August Reading Bingo. Students are to BLACK OUT their Bingo Cards for each month by completing the individual tasks in each Bingo box.

Senior Superlatives

Students in grades 9-12 wishing to invite a date that does not attend Schley County High School to the Homecoming Dance must submit an Out-of-County Date Form to the office. Forms can be picked up from the information wall outside of the office. Forms are due back by Friday, September 15.

The Golf, Cross Country and Track teams will be collaborating on a Golf Tournament fundraiser. The tournament will be on Monday October 9. Please see photos for information, entry forms and hole sponsorships.

Scheduled Drill
As part of our commitment to safety and security preparedness, our students and staff will practice various drills throughout the year. This will help ensure that our students are able to react quickly in the case of an actual emergency. This year HB 147 requires that schools conduct an intruder alert drill prior to October 1. Schley County will hold its drill Wednesday, September 6th. Our goal will be to communicate with students so they can be familiar with what to do in an emergency situation. Schley County First Responders and Emergency Management personnel will also participate in order for them to be prepared, as well. Practicing various drills is a critical step in ensuring our students are prepared to react quickly and are practiced and comfortable with emergency plans.
