We have two additional wifi locations that are now available. The old elementary building (John Lewis building) is operational. This is a Wifi Ranger access point. Information for Wifi Ranger access can be seen in Friday's posts.
Also Ellaville Baptist has wifi for the parking area at the rear of the church. Access information will be posted on the rear entrance to the fellowship hall. Open hours for use will be 9:00 to 4:00 Monday through Friday.

Virtual Middle/High School Students,
Thank you for your patience as we are working out the calendar issue with Edgenuity. We almost have this finished. The weekend due dates will no longer appear but instead will be during the 5 Day Workweek (Mon-Fri). Your current grade will still show for all coursework you have completed. The overall grade may be lower but that is fine at this time. Once you finish all the coursework, the current grade will match the overall grade. You should not be locked out of assignments if you are behind on the due dates. If so, please contact the staff member designated for your grade level. Thank you!

School Access Points
At this time there are access points located at Union Hill Church, Ebenezer Baptist, American Legion, Pecan Village and the School Board Office. These access points provide filtered internet access for student school work.
The Wi-Fi connections display as SchoolBusInternetXXXX where XXXX is the unique identifier for the access point. The password for each access point is accessXXXX, where XXXX is the same last 4 digits as you see in the Wi-Fi connection.
There are limited data restrictions on each access point for each month. It is imperative to conduct only school related tasks while using school access points.
We truly appreciate the community partners that have allowed us to locate the Wi-Fi Rangers on their property.
Remember to be responsible and practice social distancing at these locations.
We will keep you updated when more sites are added.

Please read the information below:
Covid 19 Guidance
• If you come in contact with someone that is a confirmed covid positive person, and you meet the standard of less than 6 feet for more than 15 minutes ----- Stay at home 14 days. You are considered a close contact and should quarantine 14 days. Testing will not change the need for continued quarantine. It is not suggested that you test immediately and an early negative may only mean you are not positive at that time. Symptoms may not appear early.
• If you have a reason to be tested and are awaiting testing ----- Stay at home until you have test results. You will be advised from the health care professional what to do next based on test results.
• If you have fever ----- Stay at home. You must be fever free for 24 hrs without the aid of fever reducing medications.
• If any household member is covid positive ----- Stay at home. This is a household exposure and a 14 day quarantine. If other members become positive during this time, the time frame changes. Consult your local health department or health official for further guidance.
• If a family member has serious symptoms i.e. a high fever overnight, err on the side of caution and keep exposed siblings at home until you have the condition relieved or diagnosed.
• If a family member is quarantined for a close contact exposure, you must monitor that person for any symptoms. As long as the quarantined close contact individual has no symptoms, other household members are not quarantined. It is important to try and maintain distance within the home. This also means wearing a face covering/ mask is a good measure.

Locations for internet "hotspots" were tested yesterday. We are in the process of installing them today. As we get them up and going, we will update everyone as to the locations for service as well as access logins. We very much appreciate the community partners that have allowed us to locate the Wifi Rangers on their property.

Dear Parents,
In light of the recent closure of our schools, and because many of you have requested an opportunity to reconsider online learning, we are re-opening registration for our virtual program, Edgenuity. If you choose this option for your child(ren), you must commit to this program for nine weeks for elementary students and the entire first semester for middle and high school students.
Our bus drivers will also be providing hot spots for Wi-Fi connections in remote areas during school hours August 13-25. We will begin posting those locations in order for students to have access points. Passwords will be emailed directly to student accounts. If you need further help with this please message wildcathelp@schleyk12.org or call 229-937-2405. Hotspots at each school and the Board of Education are available now.
An application for virtual learning can be found on the district and school websites or by following this link: https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/851390/Virtual_Learning_Program_Application__extended_.pdf The deadline for returning these applications is August 19, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. You may begin turning those applications in today, and each day, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Board of Education, or you may email them to wildcathelp@schleyk12.org.
Due to recent increases in Covid cases within the county and our schools, along with the required quarantines of family members, we are closing schools to students beginning tomorrow, for a period of at least 14 days. Students who have been attending school on campus will receive instructions from their teacher(s) for distance learning over the next two weeks.
Students who began virtual instruction today on Edgenuity should continue their work. Teachers and administrators will be in contact with you regarding your progress in the days to come.
Notifications will continue to go out through Remind and announcements will continue to be published on Facebook.
We are disappointed, to say the least, to have to make this decision, but it is in the best interest of the health of our students and faculty. Please continue to practice the recommended guidelines from the CDC by social distancing and wearing masks so that we can all return to school as soon as possible.

Virtual Students,
We are setting up your Edgenuity classes now. You may login after 8:00 AM, Tuesday, August 11th. You may only see a couple of classes initially. As more classes load you should be able to see all of your schedule.
To login, please visit https://auth.edgenuity.com/Login/Login/Student/
Your username is the same as your Infinite Campus username or the first part of your email before the "@student.schleyk12.org".
Your password is the first 7 characters of your current password. LEAVE OFF THE SPECIAL CHARACTER AT THE END OF YOUR PASSWORD.
For example, if your password is “Cats123?” then your Edgenuity password is just “Cats123”, without the ?

Contact tracing was conducted for potential Covid-19 exposures in varsity cheerleading and varsity football on Wednesday and Thursday. Parent contacts were directly made and both activities have been suspended for two weeks. Separate contact tracing began Friday afternoon for potential exposure occurring Wednesday and Thursday morning within the middle-high school. Parents have been directly notified for the identified contacts.
Due to the classroom contact for the latest incident, Schley County Middle High will be closed Monday for deep cleaning. There will be no middle high in-person classes or virtual classes occurring Monday. Edgenuity will begin Tuesday for middle high virtual students. In-person instruction will continue through distance learning with Microsoft Teams for Tuesday and Wednesday. Middle high students will not report Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Middle high teachers will report on Tuesday.
Schley County Elementary will continue its in-person instruction as scheduled Monday, August 10.
It is critical that anyone that is exposed to Covid-19 inside or outside of school understand when a quarantine is necessary. An exposure is a contact of less than 6 feet for 15 minutes with or without a mask. If you learn of a contact, exposure, or a positive result, inform others and take the necessary steps to keep everyone safe. Thank you for your continued support through this critical time.

Virtual School Parents,
Attendance assignment check-in through Infinite Campus should be available Monday, August 10th. An update from Infinite Campus is not available to allow the virtual attendance until Sunday night.
Edgenuity should also be available on Monday. We are working with Edgenuity to complete our district account as soon as they can.
Please continue to watch Facebook for updates.
Parents,
Directions in Infinite Campus to take virtual school attendance video can be found at https://www.infinitecampus.com/video/covid-19-student-option-student-video
We are taking attendance once per day rather than the once per course from the video. This process records your child's daily attendance.
We apologize for the delay in Edgenuity. As soon as they have us online we will send you notification. Please check Facebook or website for more information.

Parents,
Our virtual school platform through Edgenuity is not available at this time. They are extremely busy due to the influx of new accounts throughout the state. Our data files have been prepared, but we cannot provide parents and students with coursework until their implementation process takes place. Our plans were to provide roll out and login information this afternoon. We are still in communication with our implementation team in hopes this can be resolved before Friday. Virtual k-8 students will receive information via email (student and parent account) for beginning their STAR assessment. This will coincide with Edgenuity placement and help to identify areas that may need strengthening in math and ELA standards. STAR will be available for this purpose from 9:00 -3:00 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Please encourage your student to work independently on this assignment.
We will post an alert for the Edgenuity access and corresponding email as soon as they have us loaded and our schools have access to the courseware. The guidance for Infinite Campus daily check-in will be posted on our website. High school guidance and other details will be sent as well as soon as we have an update for you. Scheduling matching for block courses cannot occur without access to Edgenuity. We apologize for the inconvenience, as there are a lot of moving pieces to try and get all details in place.
Dear parents,
As we are set to begin this year, I want to thank you for your support and patience. There are many new procedures and steps that we are implementing in order to provide as much safety as possible. I am very sure that many of these precautions will be inconvenient at times. As you might expect, arrival and dismissal will be slow. The first days every year always take longer until the routine is established and each family falls into a pattern. This year poses the added challenge of not doing a “mass dismissal”. Our plans are to keep cohort groups together and avoid mixing students throughout the day. Our lunch schedule, class changes, and bus assignments will also seek to maintain the same groups as much as possible. Individual car riders will be called for pickup, and buses will load individually at dismissal, as well. This will take longer. Arrival times have been extended to accommodate the long lines in the morning. Pre-K will have an alternate pick up at an earlier time each afternoon. The middle/high school will be operating a second car rider line. Our first attempts at all of these changes will be this Wednesday. I would ask that you review the drop-off and pick-up plans and check with each school if you have a question. I also ask for your patience. Dispersing 1250 students while trying to socially distance will not happen swiftly, but the process will speed up in time. We will become more efficient as we see ways to improve the process. Thank you for your continued support.

Parents of Virtual Students,
You will be able to pick up requested student devices at the board office beginning Monday August 3rd from 9:00-11:00 and 3:00-5:00 There is a $10 insurance fee that covers damage in the event of an accident, not abuse or neglect. Insurance is not mandatory but without it you must sign a liability form stating that you are responsible for damages. Your Infinite Campus daily attendance check-in will be provided, as well as your child’s email and login information. We will need a valid, current parent email so that we can send parents other information directly needed for Edgenuity.
Optional school meal delivery for students is being coordinated. Virtual students will be able to pick up meals from four locations at assigned times. You will receive this information from the board office at the device pickup.

Parents,
You will need your child's Georgia Testing ID (GTID) number to complete the application for the Georgia Division of Family & Children Services to provide food benefits of families with children who receive free and reduced lunch.
This GTID number is available in Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Once you login select More and then GTID.
In the top right you are able to select each child.
